Essay Starting

Miss Huang had said before that the starting of our essay is very important, hence she suggested us starting with visual or sensory descriptions

For Example.
Taste, Sight, Smell, Touch, Sound.

My primary school English teacher had told me some other good startings,

1.Start with a question, to question the essay question itself. This type of starting normally is written in First person-narrative, more of the opinion if the narrator itself.

2. Start with a quote. I know this is lame, but it does has a effort in helping to hint the moral of your story. A easy way to start but try to find relevant quotes.

3.Start with a statement. I mean start by agreeing or disagreeing the title. To state your view point, another first person story starting.

I believe these would be helpful to you all, though myself have yet to try out the starting :P

  1. The 3 methods raised your Primary School teacher are usually used in expository essays. They can be used in narratives (usually from first person POV), but you have to be careful to sustain the tone of the persona.
